Jocelyn Knox

Field Lacrosse Director

Ontario Minor Field Lacrosse League 2012

2012 Season Information

Time commitments for SPRING Field Lax in the preseason will be two practices a week starting after the March Break and then once the season starts we will be going to ONE practice a week and TWO away games each week. The away games are on the weekend and both games on the same day at the same location.

The short 6 week season will have each team playing in 5 of the weeks.

U9 , U11 & U13 are played on Saturdays and U15 & U17 are played on Sundays during regular season play.

Our Field commitments to the OMFLL (Ontario Minor Field Lacrosse League) will be similar to last year, which are to participate in every scheduled game for us at the locations decided upon for our region. We are in the East region at this point so location of games are Toronto Beaches, Missisauga Hersey Centre, Oshawa School Fields, Brampton and Peterborough Parks As well as hosting one event in Huntsville (weather permitting).

Games will start to play on April 14th and 15th and it runs every weekend until Ontario Field Provincials on the long weekend in May 19-21.

The scheduling is often chaotic and changes occur last minute and rain outs happen. So you will need to be flexible and reachable for any possible changes that the manager will be handing out. For example, three years ago  we drove to Oshawa and only once we got there did the rain out get called. So we turned around and drove home. These games were not rescheduled as they didn’t have another day to play them before qualifiers. However last year we didn't have a single rain out...we had snow, rain, hail and of course sunshine.  We play through all weather.

Clarification is coming for the format for the Bantam (U15)  and Midget (U17) groups. However please be prepared for  2 weekends that are overnight with Hotel expense. Provincial Qualifiers on the 5th weekend and Provincials on the May long weekend. (if we make it through Qualifiers this year!) Only the top 4 teams from qualifiers will continue to provincials in these divisions.

TheTyke (U9), Novice (U11) and Peewee (U13) Divisions will only have one weekend overnight expense and that is at the Provincials. All Tyke (U9), Novice (U11) and Peewee (U13) divisions go to provincials this year on  the May long weekend.

FALL BALL U16 LEAGUE

Congratulations to our 2011 U16 Team for their B Division Bronze Medal in the first year of entry to the Fall Ball League!

For  the 2012  Fall Ball team,  Player BIRTH YEARS  need to be 1997,1998, 1999

As mentioned above, this League runs in the Fall from Labour Day Weekend to Thanksgiving Weekend.  Games are on Saturdays and you have 2 games each Saturday.

This league is mainly for 14 and 15 year olds but occasionally we see 13 year olds in it too.  Fall Ball Lax has overlap with Hockey for 3 weeks.  2011 was our first year into the Fall ball League and we avoided hockey conflicts by open communication with the Huntsville Minor hockey League coaches.  However conflicts may arise.  The present Hockey executive has given us a favourable response so far. We will be continuing discussions with them throughout this year and as the Hockey season ends to keep it in the forefront of their minds.

Registration Deadline will be July 15th for Fall Ball.   The Fee is$140. Please contact Jocelyn to Register.
