Land Acknowledgement
We acknowledge that the lands on which we gather to play lacrosse, traditionally known by Indigenous peoples as the Creator’s Game, are the traditional territory of the Anishinaabeg, specifically the Chippewa, Ojibwa, and Potawatomi peoples. These lands are governed by the Robinson-Huron Treaty #61 of 1850 and the Williams Treaties of 1923, which outline shared responsibilities and relationships to the land. We recognize lacrosse as a sacred game gifted by the Haudenosaunee and honour all Indigenous peoples who have protected, preserved, and shared the game across generations. The Huntsville Hawks are committed to learning, respect, and responsible stewardship of the land, and to walking the path of Truth and Reconciliation in support of wellness, understanding, and future generations.
